Three large pieces of thin, tender veal scallops, breaded to crispy perfection, arrived with a layer of mozzarella and parmesan and a large plate of rigatoni in a real Italian tomato sauce—deliciously tart as tomato sauce should be. I had the Veal Romano and my dinner partner the flounder and shrimp special both served with a Italian pasta sides. We plan to go back in the future, especially because my fiance wants to get pictures of the restaurant and surrounding area. There were some spices added with a light hand that really made this dish. We also enjoy the ease of a crowded restaurant that still allows comfortable quiet table conversation. It was once the village blacksmith shop an you still may see the hooks on the walls as well as the forge which is now a fire place.
There are as many bad close to throughway tables as there are good. What makes Carlo's most wonderful, in the realm of Italian restaurants, is the consistency in the food quality. We enjoy a pleasant atmosphere were we can sip wine and enjoy our table conversation in a well appointed but still a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. The wine selection is very good and reasonably priced. Judging seemed more a manner of personal opinion than actual taste and there was a deep sense of Western ethnocentrism I was not expecting. I can't recommend this place and will not dine there again. And that is what we did. The staff is usually very much on the ball and they work together to make your dining experience a good one. My wife and I took two other couples to dinner at Krazy Kats on Saturday night. I've never had that happen especially when I called about the problem. The scallop main dish was equally bland. This is a warm and inviting atmosphere with top notch delicious food prepared by a seasoned chef and owner - Carlo. We were a few minutes late for our reservation, but still had to wait a few moments at the bar before we were seated. With all of our menu items made fresh to order, we can gladly accommodate any dietary needs and preferences.
