Attendee Meta-Data

The Last Hope

The Attendee Meta-Data project at The Last HOPE was a great success. We encountered a few expected problems and a few unexpected ones, but overall things ran very smoothly.

Check out the official press release.

Testimonials:

* "i made prolly 12 friends just by pinging via txt or email" - Atomicsunset

* "sigh. amd.hope.net is gone... how will i know how many people are in Hopper..." - Luria

* " AMD - Wow, so much fun.. Sid the world's only hacker dog enjoyed it, his owner/handler was able to track him thru the entire conference, the implications of this demonstration are revealing to say that least" - r0d3nt

We're working to get the data and source code from the conference made available to everyone.

The visualization below is based on the "Leicas Dream" JAVA 3D visualization from Benjamin Maus. He created a project at code.google.com/p/leicas-dream - feel free to contribute. The code was heavily extended by ragefury, echo and wankel and will be released soon.

At amd.hope.net there was an awesome web service which showed the realtime movements of all attendees - including custom avatars and clickable meta information. It was implemented by aestetix, wankel, vyrus, cyn0n and other members of the Last HOPE Attendee Meta-Data team.

I found the music for these videos at the Internet Archive. It's from the Album Q's - Beatzza Marihuargarita" by Q-Daelic which he released under Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 license.
